Ah, the electric vehicle tax saga in Victoria—because apparently, saving the planet needs a little financial sting. Victoria imposes a road user charge on electric vehicles, which is currently set at about 2.5 cents per kilometre. This is on top of the usual registration and stamp duty fees, which are generally lower for EVs but not exactly a free ride. New EV buyers might also encounter government incentives that try to soften the blow, but the tax is here to stay as a way to recoup lost fuel excise revenue.
