Australia’s EV buffet is no longer just “Tesla or the bus.” Popular options you can actually buy include Tesla Model 3/Y, BYD Atto 3/Seal/Dolphin, MG4 and ZS EV, Hyundai Ioniq 5/6 and Kona Electric, Kia EV6 and Niro EV, Polestar 2, Nissan Leaf, plus Volvo’s XC40/C40/EX30 and various German badges.

Real-world range sits roughly 300–600 km depending on battery size and how enthusiastic your right foot is, with DC fast-charging from about 50 kW up to 350 kW on the fancy ones.

Pricing runs from around AUD $40k for the keen-value stuff to well over $100k for luxury rigs, while used examples dip into the low-$30ks if you’re not fussy.

State incentives and charging networks vary, but the plug-in lifestyle is now perfectly doable—just plan your pit stops and keep calm when the school-holiday queue appears. Shopping second-hand? Tradingpost has plenty of EV listings to trawl while the kettle boils.
