evs in australia 2023

Electric vehicles (EVs) in Australia in 2023 are finally charging ahead, albeit at a pace that might frustrate those used to instant gratification. Expect a mix of affordable hatchbacks and premium SUVs with ranges typically between 300 to 600 kilometres on a single charge. Prices vary dramatically, starting around $45,000 AUD for entry-level models and soaring well beyond $100,000 AUD for luxury offerings. Government incentives are patchy, so check local schemes before splashing the cash.

Charging infrastructure is improving but still requires strategic planning for long trips—think less 'plug and play', more 'plan and pray'. For a solid choice and decent deals, keep an eye on listings at Tradingpost and CarShowroom. If petrol prices keep climbing, expect EVs to gain traction faster than you can say "range anxiety".
