f1 2022 car Page 2

The 2022 F1 car was built around ground‑effect aerodynamics, using Venturi tunnels to claw back downforce while cutting dirty air—hence all that porpoising drama.

Key specs: 1.6‑litre turbo‑hybrid V6, E10 fuel, 18‑inch tyres with wheel covers, and simplified front/rear wings with bargeboards removed.

Minimum weight jumped significantly (teams grumbled, scales groaned), and DRS stuck around to keep overtakes from needing a permission slip.

The result: cars that could follow more closely, still monstrously quick, just a touch heavier and far more sensitive to ride height.
