Max Verstappen’s Red Bull called it a night with a fuel-related issue, leaving Sergio Pérez to mop up P2 while George Russell nabbed P3. The tweaked layout (fewer slow bits, more zip) served up brisk laps and a couple of safety cars for spice. Local hero Daniel Ricciardo bagged P6, which went down better than a flat white on Lygon Street. And Alex Albon pulled a tyre-life magic trick, stopping on the last lap to still score P10. Not bad for a circuit that used to be more procession than party.
