Short answer: you can’t conjure a VIN out of thin air online—privacy laws aren’t big on parlour tricks.
Start with the obvious: the 17‑character VIN is printed at the base of the windscreen, on the driver’s door jamb, and on your rego and insurance papers.
If you’re the owner, your state transport account (Service NSW, VicRoads, mySAGOV) may show it; dealers and manufacturer service portals can, too.
Some paid plate‑lookup services can reveal the VIN from a number plate in Australia, but results vary and the official PPSR check requires a VIN to begin with.
Buying a car? Ask the seller for the VIN and run your own PPSR report—cheap, quick, and far better than guessing.
