In 2022, flying cars were mostly prototypes and headlines, not something you could register and drive to Woolies in Australia.

Klein Vision’s AirCar did receive a Slovak airworthiness certificate in early 2022 after intercity test flights, and PAL-V’s Liberty kept chasing certification and taking reservations—promising, but not showroom reality here.

eVTOL craft (think Joby, Lilium, or XPeng’s X2 demo in Dubai) were aircraft, not road cars, and none were street-legal in Australia.

Bottom line: exciting progress, zero Australian retail availability, and plenty of regulatory hurdles to clear before a flying commute replaces the Monash crawl.
