• Harsh or flaring shifts: worn clutch packs, tired bands, or valve body wear.
• Delayed engagement or no reverse: low/old fluid, pump or solenoid issues.
• Torque-converter shudder around light throttle: often cured with fresh fluid/TCM update, else needs a converter.
• Overheating when towing: marginal cooling; add an external cooler and service more often.
• Limp mode and random gears: failing shift solenoids or a dodgy transmission range sensor.

Start with a proper fluid and filter service using the correct spec; if it still misbehaves, a valve body/solenoid fix can be $400–$1,500, while a full rebuild lands around $2,500–$4,500 AUD.
