No, Ford hasn’t built a production mid‑engine Mustang; that job belongs to the Ford GT, the show‑off in the family.

Those odd “mid‑engine Mustang” mules spotted years ago were development hacks, likely for GT or aero/cooling experiments—not a secret pony with the engine behind your ears.

The road‑going Mustang remains front‑engine, rear‑wheel drive, with V8s and turbos up front where tradition says they belong.

Even the wild Mustang GTD uses a front‑mounted V8 with a rear transaxle, which shifts weight rearward but doesn’t make it mid‑engined.

If you want a mid‑engine Ford, it’s GT or bust; if you want a Mustang, it’s long bonnet, noisy nose, and a grin that survives the fuel bill.
