ford mustang mid engine Page 2

Short answer: no—the Ford Mustang has always been a front‑engine, rear‑drive pony car in production form.

Ford never sold a mid‑engine Mustang; only a few late‑’60s concepts (like the Mach 2) and the odd aftermarket Franken-build flirted with the idea.

If you’re thinking of the modern Mustang GTD, that’s a front‑mounted supercharged V8 with a rear transaxle, not a mid‑engine layout.

So if you want a mid‑engine Ford, you’re looking at the GT40/GT heritage, not something with a horse on the bonnet and a boot big enough for your shopping.
