The Ford plant in Geelong was the heart of Ford Australia’s engine and casting operations, and it shut up shop in October 2016 when local manufacturing ended.
It built inline-six engines and other bits for Falcons and friends, while Broadmeadows handled the final bolting-together.
Manufacturing’s gone, but Ford still does engineering, design and testing here, including at the You Yangs Proving Ground just up the road.
The factory’s legacy is pure Aussie industrial grit—grease, ingenuity, and enough tea breaks to power a small nation.
