ford territory 2012 problems Page 3

The 2012 Ford Territory is a comfy Aussie bus, but time and kilometres expose a few predictable gremlins.

• Front lower control arm bushes and ball joints wear, causing steering clunks and feathered tyres
• Rear differential bush thump on take‑off or when shifting from reverse to drive
• Brake shudder from warped front rotors, especially after towing or city slog
• ZF 6‑speed auto mechatronic sleeve leaks or low‑speed shudder if fluid changes are ignored
• Diesel 2.7 TDCi: EGR/intake soot build‑up and split intercooler hoses; DPF grumbles on short trips
• Petrol 4.0 I6: ignition coil misfires and the sort of fuel thirst that makes a sailor blush

None of this is terminal, but it does demand a proper inspection and documented servicing.

Budget for fresh bushes, quality rotors, and transmission servicing, and it’ll keep hauling kids and Bunnings finds without the melodrama.
