The Ford Territory Turbo can be a riot to drive, but age and torque expose some gremlins.

Before you hand over the folding, check these usual suspects and budget accordingly.

• Rear differential bush failures causing thumps on take-off or over bumps.
• Front lower control arm bushes/ball joints wearing early, leading to clunks and uneven tyre wear.
• ZF 6-speed auto shudder or harsh shifts if neglected; mechatronic sleeve/connector leaks.
• Turbo oil-feed filter (banjo bolt screen) clogging, starving the turbo; split intercooler/boost hoses causing loss of power.
• Ignition coil packs and plugs misfiring under boost.
• Power steering pump/hoses weeping, plus brake shudder from soft rotors.
• AWD models: transfer case/propshaft centre bearing noises and CV wear.

Service history is everything—fresh fluids (engine and transmission), new bushes, and healthy boost pipes are your green flags.
