forester 2023 review Page 2

The 2023 Subaru Forester is the sensible shoes of SUVs—comfortable, grippy, and annoyingly competent on the school run and a fire trail alike.

Under the bonnet sits a 2.5‑litre flat‑four with around 136 kW/239 Nm, driving all wheels through a CVT; it’s not fast, but it is smooth and thrifty at about 7.4–7.6 L/100 km.

Ride comfort is plush, visibility is excellent, and the cabin’s practical, with 498 L boot space and plenty of cubbies; towing is a handy 1500 kg braked.

Downsides? The engine sounds earnest when prodded, tech graphics feel a generation old, and enthusiasts will pine for more punch.

If you want an honest all‑rounder with real ground clearance (220 mm) and standard safety kit up to the eyeballs, it’s easy to recommend. Consult official documentation for exact figures.
