forester vs sportage Page 27

Subaru Forester vs Kia Sportage is the choice between outdoorsy sensibility and slick suburban swagger. Both are practical midsize SUVs, but they serve different personalities—one packs standard AWD and hiking boots, the other brings big-screen tech and a sharp suit.

• Forester – Pros: Standard AWD across the range, excellent visibility, comfy ride and strong safety kit; surprisingly capable on rough tracks.
• Forester – Cons: The non-turbo engine can feel breathless, CVT drones when pushed, infotainment is starting to look dated, and towing capacity isn’t class-leading.
• Sportage – Pros: Multiple powertrains (including punchy turbo-petrol and torquey diesel), roomy cabin and boot, polished tech, and hushed highway manners.
• Sportage – Cons: Many trims are FWD, ride can get busy on big wheels, and the options list can nudge the price north.

No winner here—if you value gravel-road confidence and simplicity, Forester; if you want slick tech and stronger engines, Sportage. Test both on the same route, then pick the one that makes your commute less of a chore.
