free camping qld Page 227

Ah, free camping in Queensland—where the only thing freer than the camping spots might be the Wi-Fi signal, which is to say, non-existent. Queensland offers a smorgasbord of free camping options, mostly in national parks, state forests, and some council-managed areas. You’ll find places like the Great Sandy National Park and the Carnarvon Gorge with free or low-cost camping, but beware: amenities can be as scarce as a polite chat at a petrol station.

Remember, free camping often means no toilets, no showers, and no mobile reception, so pack accordingly. Also, always check local council rules and Fire Danger ratings—no one likes a burnt bush or a hefty fine. For up-to-date listings, consult Tradingpost or CarShowroom forums where fellow nomads share their secret spots.
