Getting your learner licence in Queensland is about as complicated as assembling flat-pack furniture—except the manual actually helps. Be at least 16, prove your identity, and complete PrepL (the online road-rules course) or pass the written test, then pay the fee and you’re handed an L plate’s finest. You must display L plates, have a supervisor with an open licence, and keep your BAC at a heroic 0.00—save the bubbles for when you’ve got a P on the back. If you’re under 25, log 100 hours of supervised driving including 10 hours at night; if you’re 25 or older, the logbook isn’t required but practice still is. Knock over the Hazard Perception Test, hold the Ls for at least 12 months (if under 25), then book the practical test and try not to white-knuckle the steering wheel. It’s not rocket science—just method, patience, and a supervisor who doesn’t scream at roundabouts.
