gvm upgrade qld after registration Page 2

Looking to bulk up your vehicle's Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM) after it's been registered in Queensland? Well, it's not as simple as popping down to your local mechanic with a bigger scale. You'll need to apply for an official GVM upgrade through the Department of Transport and Main Roads, complete with engineering certification proving your vehicle can handle the extra weight without collapsing into a heap.

Costs vary but expect to shell out for the engineering inspection (a few hundred bucks) plus any mods needed to beef up your suspension, brakes, or chassis. Once approved, your registration details get updated to reflect the higher GVM, letting you legally carry heavier loads.

For the nitty-gritty and proper forms, check out ServiceCentral or the Queensland Department of Transport's website. Don't even think about fudging it—overloading risks hefty fines and safety nightmares.
