The Haval H9 is a value-packed, body-on-frame 7-seater that fancies itself a budget Prado—minus the budget fuel bills. You get real off-road hardware (low-range and, on later cars, a rear diff lock), a comfy cabin loaded with kit, and a ride that’s more family holiday than rally raid. The 2.0‑litre turbo-petrol works hard and drinks like it’s parched—expect thirst, not thrift—while the handling is more gentle nudge than sharp jab. Infotainment can feel dated and some cabin plastics are more “durable” than “deluxe,” but equipment levels are generous and warranty coverage from GWM is strong. Towing is respectable at up to about 2,500 kg, and used prices are keen, which is half the charm. In short: plenty of metal and capability for the money, provided you can live with the appetite.
