The history of cars is a bumpy ride through innovation, combustion, and occasional design disasters. It all kicked off in the late 19th century with Karl Benz’s 1886 Motorwagen, the granddaddy of petrol-powered automobiles. Fast forward, and we've seen horseless carriages evolve into sleek, tech-laden machines boasting internal combustion engines, electric powertrains, and hybrid systems. The 20th century was a rollercoaster of mass production, safety improvements, and environmental concerns. Australians now enjoy a diverse market from budget hatchbacks to luxury SUVs, with used and new options aplenty on platforms like Tradingpost and CarShowroom.
