The Holden Adventra is a Commodore wagon that went bush—brave, handy, and occasionally a bit needy. The early LS1 V8s are generally tough (if thirsty), while the later Alloytec V6 can suffer timing chain stretch if servicing’s been slack. The Cross Trac AWD hardware works well when healthy, but transfer cases and diffs don’t love a lifetime of mismatched tyres or neglect. Autos can play up too—4L60E (V8) and 5-speed boxes (V6) may show flares or harsh shifts if the fluid looks like long black.
Buy on service history, check for AWD noises on lock, and budget for bushes and fluids. A sorted Adventra is a rugged family hauler; a neglected one is a wallet workout.
