The 2014 Holden Colorado is a tough ute with a few soft spots, like a tradie who skipped leg day.

Look for a full service history, listen for driveline noises, and get it on a hoist before handing over the folding stuff.

Known pain points include:

• Auto torque-converter shudder, harsh or flaring shifts.
• Injector or fuel-pressure regulation issues; intake/EGR carbon build-up.
• Intercooler or turbo hoses splitting, causing boost leaks.
• Driveline vibration (tailshaft centre bearing), diff whine, and worn leaf-spring bushes.
