If you’ve been trawling owner forums about Holden Colorado gremlins, here’s the greatest hits before you lose another weekend to thread rabbit holes.

Across 2012–2020 models, themes repeat, though later updates did tidy some calibrations and faults.

• DPF clogging and EGR carbon build-up on short-trip diesels, sometimes triggering limp mode.
• 6‑speed auto shudder or harsh shifts; software updates and proper fluid changes can help.
• Turbo actuator or boost leaks causing lag and fault codes under load.
• Electrical niggles: MyLink glitches, camera/sensor dropouts, window regulator and switch issues.
• Oil leaks (rear main, rocker cover) and coolant leaks from aging hoses or fittings.
• Manual clutch/dual-mass flywheel wear accelerated by heavy towing.

Not every ute cops these, and regular highway runs, correct oil, and up-to-date software help fend off soot and shudder.

Before you buy, scan the VIN for recalls, check service history, and get a pre‑purchase inspection by a diesel‑savvy mechanic.
