holden cruze problems 2010 Page 4

The 2010 Holden Cruze can be a faithful commuter, but it’s not exactly bulletproof.

Here are the usual gremlins owners and mechanics in Australia call out:

• Cooling system leaks from the thermostat housing or water pump leading to overheating.
• 6‑speed auto (where fitted) shudder/harsh shifts; fluid condition and valve body issues are common.
• Ignition coil packs and spark plugs causing misfires and rough idle on the 1.8 petrol.
• Engine mounts wearing early, adding vibration at idle and on take‑off.
• 2.0 diesel: EGR/DPF clogging in short‑trip use; split intercooler hoses aren’t rare.

Service history is everything: regular coolant and transmission fluid changes save headaches, and a pre‑purchase inspection is cheaper than a new gearbox.

Check for recall completion and scan for fault codes before you hand over cash.
