holden cruze won't start Page 6

When a Holden Cruze refuses to start, it’s not being dramatic—it’s auditioning to be a paperweight.

First split the problem: no crank (silence or a click) versus cranks but won’t fire.

  • No crank: flat or weak battery (>12.4 V is healthy), corroded terminals/earth strap, dud starter motor/relay, faulty brake/clutch switch, or immobiliser not seeing the key.
  • Cranks, no start: failed crankshaft position sensor, ignition coil pack/spark plugs, fuel pump/relay, blown engine or injector fuses, or flooded from short-trip life.
  • Cruze quirks: coil packs and crank sensors are frequent flyers; battery negative cable/earth issues also crop up with age.
  • Quick checks: jump-start with a known-good battery, watch for security light, scan for codes (P0335, P03xx), and listen for the fuel pump prime on key-on.

If it starts after a jump or terminal clean, your battery/earths are the likely villains; if not, get it scanned before you play parts bingo—your wallet will thank you.
