hot springs kosciuszko Page 136

If you’re chasing hot springs in Kosciuszko, the star is the Yarrangobilly Caves Thermal Pool—geothermal-fed and about 27°C year-round. It’s a bushwalk down (and yes, back up) to a pair of pools beside the river, with changing sheds and picnic spots that won’t judge your thermals. Don’t expect a steamy onsen; it’s warm, clear, and ideal after a Snowy Mountains tramp rather than a bubble-bath boil. Access is via the Yarrangobilly Caves precinct off the Snowy Mountains Highway, and you’ll need a valid park pass for Kosciuszko National Park. Arrive early in summer, pack water in winter, and leave no trace—unless you count that blissed-out grin.
