In Victoria, you’re on P-plates for up to four years, depending on your age when you get your probationary licence.

If you’re under 21, it’s P1 (red) for 12 months, then P2 (green) for a further 3 years.

If you’re 21 or older, you skip P1 and go straight to P2 for 3 years.

Any suspensions, infringements or late-night heroics can extend the timeline, so drive like you own the car and the road owns you.
