how long does a basic car service take Page 25

For a basic service—oil, filter, fluids, a quick once-over—you’re usually looking at about 60–90 minutes if the workshop’s humming.

Dealerships may ask for a half‑day drop‑off, but the spanner time is still around 1.0–2.0 hours; the rest is coffee, paperwork, and your car queuing politely.

Add a tyre rotation or cabin filter and budget another 15–30 minutes; wheel alignment or brake work pushes it further.

If the technician finds surprises (hello, shredded belts), expect a call and extra time while parts are sourced.

Book early, beat the lunch rush, and you might be in and out before your flat white cools.
