For most cars, a basic service (oil, filters, quick inspection) takes about 1–2 hours, assuming the workshop isn’t busier than a Bunnings sausage sizzle.
A logbook/annual service with full checks is usually 2–3 hours, while a major service with plugs, fluids, and extra items can stretch to 3–5 hours.
Dealer visits can run longer thanks to scheduling, courtesy washes, and “we found a thing” phone calls; independents are often quicker if parts are on hand.
EVs tend to be faster (fewer moving bits), diesels a tad slower, and any recalls or brake/tyre work will add time; ask for an estimate when you book.
Plan for drop-off to pick-up of half a day, and bring a book—just in case.
