how long does an ev battery last Page 9

Electric vehicle batteries generally last between 8 to 15 years, depending on usage and climate. Most manufacturers offer warranties of around 8 years or 160,000 km, so if your EV battery croaks before then, you've got a legitimate gripe. Factors like frequent fast charging, extreme temperatures, and high mileage accelerate battery degradation. Replacement costs can be eye-watering, often ranging from $10,000 to $25,000 AUD, so buying a used EV with a well-documented battery history on CarShowroom or Tradingpost is wise. Keep in mind, technology is improving, so newer batteries might last longer and degrade slower.
