how long is a qld roadworthy valid for Page 196

In Queensland, a roadworthy (Safety Certificate) for a private sale is valid for 2 months or 2,000 km, whichever comes first.

For licensed motor dealers, it’s 3 months or 1,000 km, again whichever comes first.

It needs to be current when you advertise or transfer rego—no “she’ll be right” if it’s expired.

Check the issue date and plan your sale so you’re not redoing paperwork when you’d rather be at the servo grabbing a pie.
