In Queensland, if you’re under 25 you’ll typically spend 3 years on P plates: P1 for 12 months and then P2 for 24 months, assuming you pass the Hazard Perception Test and keep your record clean.

If you’re 25 or over, you usually skip P1 and go straight to P2 for at least 12 months after passing the practical test (no logbook hours required).
