how much does a sliding door cost Page 16

Short answer: it depends whether you want a humble cupboard slider or a glass portal to the patio worthy of a coastal magazine.

In Australia, a basic internal sliding door (hollow‑core slab plus track) typically runs about AUD $150–$500, while barn‑door kits land around $300–$800 plus the door.

External aluminium sliding glass doors start roughly at $600–$1,500 for budget units, $1,500–$3,500 mid‑range, and $3,500+ for larger, timber, or double‑glazed options.

Installation can add $200–$600 for simple swaps, up to $800–$2,500+ if you’re resizing openings or poking the structure with a stick.

Buying used? Internal sliders often go for $50–$300, and second‑hand glass sliders $200–$1,000 if you can handle pickup—Tradingpost frequently has bargains if your tape measure’s honest.

Prices sway with size, glazing, hardware, and how opinionated your walls are, so budget a little extra for surprises.
