how much to replace electric car battery

Brace the wallet: replacing an electric car battery in Australia typically runs about AUD 8,000–25,000 for mainstream packs, and AUD 20,000–35,000+ for larger performance units.

Opting for a refurbished or used pack can trim that to roughly AUD 3,000–12,000, depending on capacity, health and warranty. Labour, diagnostics and programming usually add AUD 1,000–3,000, plus high‑voltage safety checks. Many EVs carry 8‑year/160,000 km battery warranties, so if you’re within that window the bill may be a very happy zero. Exact numbers vary wildly by make and model—Nissan Leaf and MG ZS EV sit toward the lower end; big‑battery SUVs and performance sedans toward the top. Get quotes from a dealer and an independent EV specialist before committing, then breathe into a paper bag and proceed.
