how often should your car be serviced Page 38

In Australia, most cars should be serviced every 12 months or 15,000 km, whichever comes first; some recommend 6 months or 10,000 km if the use is tough or the engine’s a bit high-strung.

Short trips, towing, dusty roads, or hot climates count as “severe service”, so tighten the schedule unless you enjoy funding your mechanic’s holiday house.

Follow your logbook for exact intervals, and don’t skip time-based items like brake fluid (usually every 2 years), plus coolant and timing components as specified.

Between services, keep an eye on oil level, tyres, and wiper blades—cheap insurance against expensive noises.
