In New South Wales, you need to be at least 16 years old to get your learner licence. That’s when you can start learning the ropes under supervision. Then, after holding your learner licence and meeting the supervised driving hours requirement (at least 120 hours, including 20 night hours), you can attempt the P1 provisional licence test at age 17. Remember, this system is designed to keep the roads safer, not to give you early bragging rights.
