In Queensland, the minimum age to get your P plates (P1) is 17, provided you’ve held your learner licence for at least 12 months and logged 100 supervised hours including 10 at night, then passed the practical driving test and any required hazard perception test.
You can get your Ls at 16, so the keen beans hit P1 right on 17 if they’ve done the homework.
If you’re 25 or older, the logbook requirements are different, but you still need to pass the test and meet eligibility rules.
Stuff it up and you’ll be cadging lifts from Mum a bit longer—humbling, like stalling outside a busy café.
Double-check the current QLD TMR rules before you book, because they tweak things more often than a barista fiddling with grind size.
