how to avoid westgate bridge Page 169

Ah, the Westgate Bridge — Melbourne’s infamous bottleneck and traffic black hole. To dodge the endless queues, your best bet is to time your crossing outside peak hours, typically before 6:30am or after 9am, and then again after 3:30pm. Alternatively, consider the Bolte Bridge or the West Gate Freeway’s other connecting roads, but brace yourself for their own quirks. Public transport like trains or ferries can be a charming escape from the road rage circus. And if you’re really desperate, try working from home — it’s surprisingly effective.
