Converting an overseas licence to a South Australian licence is less epic than it sounds—unless paperwork scares you more than roundabouts.
Within about 90 days of becoming an SA resident, book a visit to a Service SA centre and bring your passport/visa, proof of SA address, overseas licence (plus a NAATI translation if it isn’t in English).
They’ll do an eyesight check, and if your country is on SA’s recognised list you can usually swap over without tests; otherwise, expect a knowledge test and possibly a practical drive.
Classes are matched as closely as possible, fees are paid, and your overseas card may be surrendered while you get a shiny SA one.
Until you switch, you can generally drive on your overseas licence as a visitor, but once you’re a resident the clock is ticking—so don’t dither.
