how to get a big dent out of a car Page 3

Got a big dent? Start by checking the paint—if it’s intact and the panel’s plastic (think bumpers), hot water plus a clean plunger can coax it back with surprising dignity.

For shallow metal dents, gentle heat from a hair dryer followed by a blast of compressed air can sometimes pop it out; otherwise try a glue-puller kit and a PDR tap-down, slowly and patiently.

Sharp creases, stretched metal, or dents on panel edges? That’s pro territory—paintless dent repair in Australia typically runs $150–$400 per panel, complex jobs $500+, while full body-shop filler and paint can hit $600–$2,000+.

If the paint’s cracked, seal it promptly to fend off rust, and avoid poking near airbag sensors or wiring because surprise explosions are only funny in cartoons.

When in doubt, get a quote from a PDR specialist—cheaper than pretending it’ll “just pop out” while it very much doesn’t.
