how to get a safety certificate qld Page 3

Ah, the elusive safety certificate in Queensland—your golden ticket to legally flogging that old banger. First, you need to get your vehicle inspected by an authorised inspection station (AIS). They'll check the basics: brakes, lights, steering, tyres, and a few other bits that might make your car a death trap. If it passes, you get the certificate, which is valid for 1 month or 1,000 km, whichever comes first.

Remember, it's not a roadworthy certificate but a safety certificate for registration transfer. Costs vary but expect around $40 to $60. If your car fails, you’ll need to fix the issues and get re-inspected. For listings of AIS stations, try ServiceCentral or Tradingpost.
