how to pay for caravan private sale Page 4

For a private caravan sale, pay in a way that clears fast and leaves no wiggle room for shenanigans.

The cleanest option is an instant bank transfer (Osko/PayID) while you both sit at a branch or verify on the app; next best is a bank cheque issued on the spot—confirm funds and keep the receipt.

Cash only if you meet at a bank and have it counted and deposited immediately; avoid gift cards, crypto, or "I’ll fix you up Monday"—that’s how caravans become disappearing acts.

Always sight ID, match the VIN/chassis to the rego papers, do a PPSR check for finance owing or write-offs, and write a receipt with buyer/seller details, price, VIN and "sold as-is".

Don’t hand over keys or plates until funds are cleared, and complete your state’s transfer/notice-of-disposal the same day; simple, boring, effective—like a well-balanced drawbar.

If you found it on Tradingpost, keep the ad and messages as part of your paper trail, just in case your memory is leakier than an old canvas annex.
