how to register a car in qld Page 7

Registering a car in Queensland is about as thrilling as waiting for paint to dry, but someone's got to do it. First, you'll need proof of ownership, like a receipt or a signed transfer form. Next up, get a safety certificate—commonly called a roadworthy certificate—from an approved inspection station, unless the car is brand spanking new.

Then, trot down to your nearest Department of Transport and Main Roads office with your ID, completed forms, and payment for registration fees, which can vary but expect to cough up a few hundred dollars annually. You can also do much of this online if you prefer to avoid human interaction.

Don’t forget compulsory third-party insurance—it’s mandatory and baked into the registration cost. For the nitty-gritty details and forms, check the official Queensland government website or services like ServiceCentral.
