how to sell a car in qld Page 3

Selling a car in Queensland is not rocket science, but it does involve a few bureaucratic hoops to jump through. First, ensure your car is roadworthy or at least disclose its condition honestly—your conscience will thank you later. Then, you’ll need to complete a transfer of ownership form and lodge it with the Department of Transport and Main Roads, usually within 14 days of the sale. Don’t forget to provide the buyer with a receipt and retain copies for your records. Pricing? New car prices are about as friendly as a dodgy mechanic, so expect used car prices to be all over the shop; sites like Tradingpost and CarShowroom can give you a rough idea. Lastly, remember that any outstanding finance on the car must be cleared before the sale.
