how to sell a car victoria Page 4

Selling a car in Victoria involves a few bureaucratic steps that ensure you don’t end up chasing your old banger down the freeway. First, you need to complete a Notice of Disposal form and submit it to VicRoads within 14 days of sale—it's their way of knowing the car has passed into someone else's questionable ownership.

Next, provide the buyer with the Certificate of Roadworthiness, because nobody wants to buy a vehicle that might drop its wheels off mid-drive. Don’t forget to hand over the registration certificate and any service history that might make your car look less like a rolling disaster.

Finally, agree on a price (check Tradingpost or CarShowroom to gauge the market), and get a receipt signed by both parties for legal peace of mind. Remember, honesty is the best policy, but a little charm never hurts.
