In Queensland, get a Safety Certificate from an approved inspection station before you advertise a registered car — it has to be displayed in the listing and on the vehicle.
Clean it, photo it, and write an honest ad with VIN, odometer, rego expiry, service history, and a clear price (plus PPSR check results if you’re feeling saintly).
For inspections, meet safely, keep plates on for test drives, and take secure payment (bank transfer) — no creative cheques, no gift cards, no “my courier will collect”.
After the handshake, give a receipt, remove your e-tag, and lodge a Notice of Disposal with TMR; the buyer then has 14 days to transfer rego.
If the car’s unregistered, you can sell it without a Safety Certificate, but sort a permit for any legal test drive and be crystal-clear in the ad.
