how to sell house privately in australia Page 2

Selling a house privately in Australia is perfectly doable if you’re organised and just stubborn enough to smile through paperwork.

Line up a conveyancer or solicitor to prepare the contract of sale and handle state-based disclosures, then research comparable sales and set a price that won’t make buyers spill their flat whites.

Stage the place, snap sharp photos, and list on major portals and Tradingpost; field enquiries, run inspections, and keep a tidy log of offers like a grown-up.

When an offer lands, negotiate price, deposit, and settlement; issue contracts, let your conveyancer manage cooling-off and searches, and have the deposit held in a trust account.

Budget for marketing, conveyancing, and reports—still cheaper than a full agent’s commission, but not exactly pocket change.

It’s a bit like herding cats with clipboards, yet with prep and a steady hand, you’ll get the sold sign without the song and dance.
