Selling an unregistered car in QLD is perfectly allowed, and you don’t need a Safety Certificate to sell it—only to register it again.
You (or the buyer) can’t legally drive it on the road unless it’s on a trailer or covered by an Unregistered Vehicle Permit from TMR.
Advertise it clearly as “unregistered/no RWC,” and when it sells, give a proper receipt with the VIN/engine number, sale price, date, names and signatures.
If it previously had rego, cancel it with TMR and, if eligible, snag any refund on the remaining period—then keep it off public roads like it’s allergic to fines.
Clear any finance and consider a PPSR certificate to show it’s not encumbered; buyers love paper more than promises.
The buyer will sort their own Safety Certificate and registration with TMR; you just keep the paperwork tidy and the car off the street.
