how to sell your own home Page 6

Selling your own home without the middleman is a delightfully bold move, usually reserved for those who enjoy paperwork and negotiation headaches. First, you’ll need to price your property wisely—market research on Tradingpost or realestate.com.au is your friend here. Next, spruce up your home because first impressions are everything; a bit of DIY staging never hurt anyone. Then, prepare all the legal documents, including a Contract of Sale—this is where a solicitor or conveyancer earns their keep. Marketing your property effectively via online classifieds and social media is crucial, or your home might linger longer than a bad smell. Finally, brace yourself for the endless inspections and tire-kickers before you hopefully strike a deal. Remember, it’s a marathon, not a sprint, so keep hydrated and maybe invest in a stiff drink.
