Park nose-to-nose, ignition off, handbrakes on, and keep the batteries at the same voltage (most cars are 12V—if you’ve got a 24V truck, don’t mix and match). Connect red to dead +, red to donor +, black to donor −, then black to bare metal earth on the dead car—away from the battery; no fireworks, thanks. Start the donor, let it idle a minute, then start the flat car; if it coughs, wait another minute and try again rather than cranking like a blender. Once running, remove the leads in reverse order and keep the revived car idling or drive for 20–30 minutes to recharge. If cables get hot, batteries leak, or you smell eau de burning electrics, stop and call roadside—pride heals faster than wiring looms. Always follow your owner’s manual and consult official documentation for exact procedures.
